Plumbing pipes for residential and commercial structures come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Pipes used in plumbing, such as copper, aluminum, carbon, stainless steel are used at various places depending upon their usages.

To reestablish the ferrite — austenite balance, ASTM A106 GR. B Carbon Steel Seamless Pipes should be solution annealed according to the heat treatment section. The HAZ can enhance its ferrite content when the weld metal temperature of ASTM A106 GR. B Carbon Steel EFW Pipes is between 2100 and 2640 degrees Fahrenheit (1150 and 1450 degrees Celsius). The retransformation of ASME SA 106 GR. B Carbon Steel ERW Pipes into a ferrite — austenite weld structure is enabled by chilling the high temp ferrite. Cooling rates are critical for ASTM A106 GR. B Carbon Steel Round Pipes. Cooling rates are too sluggish when the weld region is too hot and too much weld energy is used, permitting the development of the embrittling sigma phase in the heat-affected zone. The cooling rates of ASME SA 106 GR. B Carbon Steel Square Pipes are too quick if not enough weld energy is employed, resulting in too much ferrite in the weld metal and a poor weld connection.
